Degree scandal embarassing to WVU

A shameful chapter in WVU history.
I am embarrassed at the conduct of many of the high ranking officials at my alma mater West Virginia University. It was shameful how the institution as a whole acted in awarding a master's degree to Governor Joe Manchin's daughter that she certainly didn't deserve. I hope that the people who will replace those who have been fired or resigned, will work hard to restore the University's reputation.

To read the story of the scandal, visit the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, whose reporters Len Boselovic and Patricia Sabatini should win the Pulitzer for their work, here: scandal

President Garrison should resign.

There is no place for politics in the awarding of non-honorary degrees. They waited too long to revoke the un-earned degree.

Here a story from the Charleston Gazette on the report issued by the panel investigating this matter Bresch scandal and finally an excellent argument for why Mike Garrison should resign tarnished president should step down

Please read the story linked below, the only thing about it which saddens me is that if this had been a youth league game, I fear the parents would have berrated the girls who helped her. This linked story isfrom the New York Times, but I first heard about it today on ESPN when the three young ladies were interviewed.
A Sporting Gesture Touches 'Em All

D.C. Madam found dead.

In what police are initially calling a suicide and what I am sure many internet conspiracists will soon call murder, convicted DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey was found dead in Florida today on property owned by her mother.
Ms. Palfrey was convicted on April 15 of this year on counts of money laundering, racketeering and mail fraud. She was to be sentenced on July 24. Ms. Palfrey was believed to have provided escorts to high ranking members of the government and her arrest lead to much speculation about the identities of her clients.
